Meditation: What Is The Truth About It, And Can It Change Our Life?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joel_Skipper]Joel Skipper

What is meditation? This question gets asked a lot, and there is almost just as many different answers. The term Meditation gets searched 1,800,000 times a month, that's over 60,000 times every day, not including all the different languages. If you Google the question, you will get many different answers. There are so many different answers to the same question, because most of the people answering the question do not understand what Meditation is. So I apologize now if I hurt anybodies feelings for that comment, but the fact is most of the people out there teaching meditation don't really understand what it is, or how to do it properly. Meditation when done correctly is life changing, it is so powerful that it will literally change your life forever. Trust me if you have not experience this you don't know what meditation is.

Most people that try to learn meditation are doing it for the benefits that they have heard about like; reducing stress, being able to control your emotions, health benefits, and the list goes on and on. The problem with learning meditation with these goals in mind, is that all these are side effects of going into deep Meditation, and since your goal is the side effect you will never go deep enough into Meditation to feel the true awe inspiring power of Meditation, which will give you the side effects you are looking for. I apologize if that was a little complicated for some beginners, but stay with me, and keep reading my blogs. You will start to understand more and more, and when I actually teach you how to meditate you'll understand all this trust me, it is so worth it. You see the problem is that it is very hard to explain what Meditation really is to someone that has not experience it. It is like me trying to explain what a strawberry taste like to someone who has never tasted the sweet tart juices of a strawberry. But none the less I will do my best to explain it to you. First Meditation is not a action, you can't do Meditation. You can't sit down and meditate. Meditation is a state of being, it is the state of being totally present in the here and now, oh yeah that ever elusive present moment. Most of what people teach you as meditation is actually techniques and exercises to get you into Meditation.

Where as this is the correct answer to; what is Meditation, I know it leaves you with a since of longing, like the answer was not really answered. So I am going to describe to you my experiences so you can better understand. Now first you have to understand, in order for me to describe it to you, I have to break it up into kind of a time line, but when I'm in Meditation this happens instantly all at the same time. So sit down, and strap yourselves in,because we are going for a ride boys and girls. When I'm in Meditation, I'm aware of all my organs. From my Kidneys and liver, all the way down to the really small ones like your pituitary, and pineal glands in your head. I'm aware of my bones, all of them at the same time, along with my muscles, tendons, ligaments, etc. I'm aware of my energy centers, or chakras if you wish to call them that, and my energy channels, meridians. I become aware of things outside my body like; the ground, the things in my room, people, animals, trees, plants the air. Everything around me, and I can take this has far out as I wish, meaning I can feel the whole planet, the moon, other planets, the sun, and stars. To whole galaxies, and yes all this at the same time. No this is not a visualization. To visualize means you are seeing pictures in your head. Everything feels as if they are inside me, the Mango tree outside my bedroom feels just like one of my arms.

The feeling is indescribable, the pleasure, and sheer ecstasy is beyond what words can describe. I did a survey, a couple years ago, about what was peoples most pleasurable experience. Most people about 80% said sex or making love, the other 20% said various answers from, the first time they looked into the eyes of someone they love, to when they were on vacation and was hiking in a very beautiful place. Trust me this blows all of them out of the water. Now imagine being in this state of being and doing these other things at the same time, like making love or being really connect to the people you care about. Yeah know that is what I'm talking about. So let me explain a couple of other things here so this will make more since to you. First everything that you can see and touch is made of energy. As well as everything you can't see, and touch like radio waves, light waves, emotions, thoughts, and the air you breath. What gives you the ability to be connected to everything is your ability to feel energy, and this is done with your consciousness, your awareness. So the reason you don't feel connected is because you don't have enough awareness built up. Building your consciousness, your awareness is the key that unlocks this magical door for you to experience what is right in front of you already. This is the real power of Meditation, you want to change your life, build your consciousness. There is absolutely nothing more important than building your awareness.

Seven Tips That Can Teach You How To Meditate

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Adam_Rajba]Adam Rajba

Many people want to learn how to meditate. There are many different techniques that you can learn, but you need the right setting and circumstances in order for you meditation to be the most effective. Here are seven of the ways to prepare yourself for meditation.

One of the first tips for meditating is having the right location. You need to pick a spot in your house, office, or wherever that have the least amount of outside distractions. This can mean a quiet spare room, a space in your bedroom that you can set aside, or some people find that sitting quietly in their car can be the best place. You also need to make sure that no one disturbs you. This can simply mean telling your spouse or your kids that you need a few minutes of 'time out' time.

Tip number two is dealing with outside distraction are also going to bring you out of your meditative state. A lot of people use music or other sound recordings to help them weed out any outside influences. This is all good, but it is important that whatever you want to listen to is not distracting in itself. Your favorite rock band is going to be more distracting because you are going to be more focused on the song or the beat than meditating.

The third tip for meditation is time. You need time to not only meditate, but also get into the mood for it, (this leads to the fourth tip: deep breathing exercises, which we will come to in a moment). The right time to meditate also coincides with distractions, so many people either meditate first thing in the morning before the world wakes up, or just before going to bed after the kids are asleep, and the sounds of the world are starting to settle down. Either way works good, and as you get more and more in tune with your body and mind, the actual time you meditate will not matter as much.

The fourth of the most important tips for meditating is deep breathing. This is where you focus your energy on breathing. You inhale through your nose, hold it for a few seconds, and then let it out through your mouth. This actually does two things. It focuses your attention on the here and now, and allows an abundance of oxygen to enter your body. Both of these help to calm your nerves, let go of the tension you may have, and most of all, relax.

The fifth tip is that you will need to meditate wearing clothes that will let you relax. This means loose fitting, comfortable materials that aren't going to bind or pinch. This also lets you get relaxed as well, allowing you to concentrate more on meditation than the waistband of your pants cutting into your skin, or that collar being a little too tight.

The sixth tip for getting in the mood for meditation is posture. Some say that you should sit cross-legged with your back straight, but some people just can't hold that pose, or even get into this position. The idea is that you sit in a comfortable position, but not so much that you get sleepy, because meditation is a different state of mind than sleeping. Sitting as much upright as possible helps to not only align your body, but also your inner energy, so that it can easily flow up and down.

The seventh important tip is to keep doing your meditation, no matter what. If you are just starting out learning how to meditate, don't expect instant results, and don't beat yourself up if you don't get it the first few times. Even the most powerful gurus didn't start out this way, they started just like you. The important thing is that you keep at it, you will see results.
